Something people have been requesting is more info on the characters shown on the comic.
Something I've been wanting to do is to update.

This update is meant to remedy both problems. :P

This was a comic I made a while ago, and in fact, predates almost all of the artwork on my comic; it was made after a week or two, if my memory serves.

This serves to get a lot of the backstory for Kinas into the form of a comic, something which--while I hope to eventually incorporate into the story--won't fully be realized in the actual content of the comic.

Hence, these pages. As for the artwork itself...well, I like David's head, but as it turns out, I really really suck at drawing civilian clothing. :P
So I'm not fond of his body or arms, but oh, well; this is a side-comic, anyway.

Similarly, Kinas and Sinaer's childhood looks were made fairly quickly in Paint, rather than PDN, 'cause this was not meant as an actual update when I started making it, and wanted to finish it fairly quickly.
I'd have had to track down the guide on aging characters (ComicFury has a good one or two linked, and I've seen them, but I haven't practiced them) and then do a few attempts, and that seemed like too much work, when the simpler art got the message across.

Apologies that I'm releasing so much filler, but my current schedule prevents me from putting time into the comic. I theoretically could, but not without either a MASSIVE drop in quality (we're talking copy-pasting every panel, which I don't do) or completely cutting off my life on the forums, neither of which I'm willing to do, so I'll update whenever I can.

At least I'm still working on the site. You'll soon be seeing some changes, assuming I can make them work. Will give the site a slightly more customized feel.

By the way, sorry for the confusing dialog order. Again, this was before I was more familiar with how spacing in a comic would work, meaning the dialog order's not exactly coherent. I think you can figure out the order on your own, but if not, I'll post the order myself. (In this case, look left first.)

top to bottom, left to right
that's how dialogue works

Yeah, I know, but sometimes, when creating something, you fail to look at the overall picture; that's the mistake I made. It'll get worse for the second part, but since the third part hasn't been made yet, that means it can be made better. :P

Just seeing if this works.

good so far, it's good to establish characteristics early on.

I love doing this, and it's good to get the info in the actual comic, though honestly, I'd prefer updating my comic (and actually showing these events) if I were able to.

Alas, no time at the moment. Not with my life scheduled as it currently is, so these info-comics will have to do for now.

Just take your time, I understand.

So is Kinas the protagonist of Descended or just a really important character? Or is every character going to receive similar treatment at some point? (Sure, it'd be nice if everyone had a little backstory comic but that sounds like a lot of work, considering how many characters you already have.)

He's the character I most identify with, he's the character I've most fleshed out, he's my favorite character and the character I'm roleplaying as in the CF RPG...

...But despite all that, he's not the primary protagonist of The Descended. He's actually a tertiary protagonist. However, you're correct, he IS a very important character.

Not every character is going to receive this treatment. At this stage, I'm thinking it'll just be the three party leaders: Kinas, Sanik, and a shorter one on Argus. (I might do ones for Aria and Sasha, but probably won't.)

(The reason Argus's will be the shortest is that Argus is the primary protagonist, and therefore, The Descended is his story more than any other--his backstory will come into the comic more than any others' will.)

The reason I am putting Kinas's up first is that it's the one I had already started writing. :P

It's also the most eye-catching, honestly. Sanik's backstory is much the same (as you'll see in later parts), only not quite as interesting.

Argus's is more interesting, but because it's spoilerific, the censored comic version limits how much I can tell.

Soyeah, that's why Kinas gets some spotlight; he's not the most important character, but he's one of the most interesting characters. I'm not going to go into this much detail for the others.
