So I'm setting this comic to release at six tomorrow for me, which would be my normal update time of 6 PM on Mondays if the timezones work properly.
Anyway, apologies for the atrocious dialog order. I am fully aware of just how bad it was, and the notations don't really make it much easier. >_<
Also, before you go complimenting me on Sinaer's art, that was partially a trace job. (I forget how much was traced and how much I made, but I know that it was at least partially traced off of a reference image.)
As you might have noticed me commenting on, this was originally meant as a side-comic. So when I was making it, I didn't want to spend too much time on it, hence, why the partial trace was made, in order to save time.
(Also, to help practice my art skills, since again, most of this comic was made before the majority of my work.)
Far more typical of my work is the picture of Kinas in that same panel. This isn't the final look for pre-FaceHeelTurn Kinas, since he will have an adult appearance you see in part three, but teen!Kinas is pretty close to the final product for Kinas, so you can already see the contrast between him as he was to
him as he is now
Also, yes, the third panel is copy-paste for both Kinas and David. In the main comic, I refuse to use copy-paste, but again, this was started as a side-comic, which I am supposed to make in less time.
...That said, the last panel made this comic probably take just as much time as a normal comic for one simple reason:
HUGS ARE &*%#*&$#*& HARD TO DO!!! >_<
I had reference images, but even with said reference images, I couldn't get it right. Kinas's left shoulder is too far up, the proportions of his arms are inconsistent, Sinaer's neck is off, her back doesn't quite seem right, her left arm looks like it's not attached to the shoulder, her right arm doesn't quite wrap around Kinas, and probably half a dozen other mistakes which I could mention.
It was a nightmare. I've been on-and-off working on that panel for somewhere between two and four months. And even after all that work, it still looks horrendously awful. The anatomy is just bad. The art is sub-par. The posing just isn't perfect.
Fortunately, I think that in the entire span of my comic, I only need one, maybe two, other hugs for the story. (One by M, another possibly by Sanik, and that's it. And both aren't for quite some time, as they're both arcs ahead of the current Arc 0.)
And good heavens for that, 'cause I absolutely SUCK at hugs.
Also, yes, I'm aware soliditary should be solitary; was a typo I didn't catch, since I don't often run my comics through spellcheck.
Anyway, to summarize the comic: Kinas and Sinaer were supposed to be rivals to each other, as their mentors were rivals, but neither of them would have that.
Instead, they became friends, since between training and missions, they never got to socialize with anyone other than each other and their mentors.
As such, they learned to work together extremely well, despite them supposed to be separated from one another, and this unity made them breeze through challenges which should have been much harder than they were, allowing them some spare time to bond closer than the missions already had.
David eventually convinced Kinas that it was his obligation to break ties with Sinaer, and Kinas reluctantly followed, as Light Warriors (which is half of being a Light Martial Artist) are the warrior class of duty. (This also serves as foreshadowing for Kinas's fate. Pay attention, and you can probably figure out what David meant.)
By the way...If I had the ability to give out a prize, I'd do so for the first person to guess what inspired this dynamic between Kinas and Sinaer.
You might need Part Three to figure it out, you might be able to guess it on your own, but I'm not going to give hints.

This is pretty good man! I'm liking Kinas and Sinear's characters so far. :)

Much appreciated. :)
This is all backstory, so they do change a lot from who they were back in this comic.
For the record, this is probably not something I'll get to show in the actual comic, but they're in their mid-thirties during contemporary events.
During this comic, they're in their teens, so this is around half-way through their life so far. (A little less, actually.)

Oh my god you can actually draw when you feel like it. The hugging scene doesn't actually look that bad. The only thing that bothers me about it is that Sinaer's left hand is bent the wrong way. Either that, or she has two right hands.
The trend of making golden swords died out fast after people realized that they were fragile, heavy, and incredibly expensive to make.

Not draw particularly
, mind you, butyeah, when I try, I can do solidly mediocre. :P
The hand is my fault; it seemed to work in my mind, but thinking about it, you're right.
As for golden swords...well, magic solves everything. A
mage did it. :P
