So I finished this a couple days ago, as part of this thread. I didn't plan on putting it up as a comic (since my comic is too cluttered with filler already), but I put eight hours into it (you'd never know by the quality--I was intentionally not trying to make it be time-consuming, so I didn't bother putting time into the art, and yet it took so long all the same), and it's a proper comic in its own right. (Oh, and on another note, working on it made Sinaer make a small revelation to me. Her page got a small update, on her orientation.) Non-cannonical, in that it's not a page furthering the story, but a comic all the same, proper comic, that I spent far too much time on. :P
I figured I might as well show it off for the time being since for the moment, I'm not updating. (I announced this on the blog, but my computer that I have LITERALLY EVERYTHING for the past four or five or so years died. Including everything on The Descended. So, uh...working on the comic's slowed down as a result thanks to a need to RECOVER those files.)
I realize that I'm basically one of the worst webcomic artists ever at actually doing this "making a webcomic" thing, but you DO have my word that in spite of the difficulties I'm having, I AM working on it.
On that note, I'm beginning to hunt for a tablet to buy. I haven't been able to find one in my budget range ($100) yet, but I've not been doing much searching so far and once I put some serious time into it, I'm sure I'll come up with one that I can find.
When I actually get a tablet (well, a working one, anyway; technically I have one already, just doesn't actually work), I'm reasonably certain that my art will go much, much faster after some adjustment. (For instance, this comic probably would have taken my forecasted 1-2 hours rather than the 8 it did. Granted, it being the first time I've drawn chibis digitally likely also contributed, butstill.)
As for this movie comic, it should be noted that as of the current version (I might make an updated version later, which would nullify this note), there's a missing Argus dialog panel where he asks what movie they will be watching, and I didn't put in a caption to help the transition into watching the movie.
Anyway, hope you enjoy (and are not annoyed) at the filler.
I considered inserting them earlier (they could fit really anywhere), but I figured they were the thing people would find most entertaining, so I stuck them at the end.
And you have less subscribers than I do?!?
o_O
This must be fixed.
It's borderline a crime against humanity!
Sorry for not posting this sooner! I've been behind in so much of late.
Anyway, I know that feeling of thinking something will only take a 'short time' all too well. On many occasions have I attempted to do something that would be quick and yet it turned into 8+ hour chores instead. It's good that you stuck with it and actually produced something pretty good at the end though.
Don't worry, you're certainly not the worst at doing this sort of thing. Believe me, I know a lot of people who are worse. You're at least very upfront and honest about it, and above all you're trying to improve, which is the most important.
Do you have any ideas of what tablet you want to buy? I've always used a Wacom Intuous 3, which has been great, but it might be too expensive or you full price, if you only want something around $100. You could probably find one on ebay for around that price though, if you're willing to get a preowned one.
I've got a small bamboo too which is on the cheaper side and pretty good, though I personally find it too small. I guess I'm just used to using a larger one.
Taking a quick look on the Wacom website, it looks like the Intuos Pen is $99. There's also the Intuos Manga, which is $149.
Overall, the comic doesn't look bad and looks pretty good. I really liked all of the different characters you included and just the huge variety on display! The writing was good too.
While the last 4 panels were good, my favourite has to be panel 15 (or the 5th last)! :)
Anyway I hope you're well and good luck with everything!
Butyeah, thank you. I most assuredly will keep going! (And if this looks good, just WAIT for what I've got planned...)
Congrats on 40 subs! Glad I helped make it happen. Also, it's more than I have. ;)
Good luck with your new tablet when you get it! I'm looking forward to updates and your progress. :D
